Stop Looking Directly At Me
Seriously. Stop it.
Violet and I are getting the house appraised, so that's been sucking what little time we have not working. We've been trying to do all the finish work on the trim, closets, deck, etc. that has been 80% done for the past 3 years. Now we're trying to cram all that finishing work in to the next 2 weeks. The last 20% of a project (finishing work) is the crappiest part. Don't let anyone tell you different. And the first 20% (destruction) is the most fun. We need to start doing the destruction part ourselves and then hire someone to come in and do the rest.
Work has been silly-busy as is usual these days. My consulting business has picked up to a level that has become uncomfortable in pace. I'm having to turn down jobs and if things continue as they are, I'm going to have to start sub-contracting out the work. Management work is for sucks. Violet's clothing design business is going nuts right now too. She has been dealing with having to fire and hire her manufacturers, meeting with sales reps, processing call-in orders from all over the country and overseas, and more. On top of that, she's still caring for the kids at home while I'm in the office. Mia is going to have to start going to Preschool 4 days a week now, but she seems fine with that, so I guess we are too.
Mia's soccer practice / season has ended. She misses it, but she's in tumbling now. Her newest interest has been the library. I'm starting to take her there once a week to grab another handful of books to read. She just can't believe they let her have any books she wants to take home and borrow. She's enrolled in this summer reading program where she gets prizes for reading (or being read to) for blocks of time. When she found out prizes were involved, she quickly became an even bigger bookworm.
We attended Miles' 1-year birthday fest on Tuesday where we also got to see the Becker's new place in East Moreland. It's a beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood. Nice score. Sailor is stoked about having an awesomely huge upper-floor bedroom too. It was nice to see Dave and to rap out a little with him. I've been so out of touch with my local friends for the last month and I'm having a hard time reconnecting.
