No Means No
Last Friday, Mia went to stay with her grandma, ("Maunie", as she insists you call her), for the weekend. This kind of thing doesn't happen very often, so when it does, we usually try to take advantage of the free time with only the baby to care for. We've had a Beaches gift certificate burning a hole in our collective pockets for nearly 6 months now and Friday night became the night to use it. Since it was basically the first time we had been out to dinner together since Cannon was born, we decided to go hog wild and get an appetizer and drinks with the meal.
Beaches isn't the greatest restaurant and ranks in the category of just slightly nicer than Red Robin's or Red Lobster or similar joint. That didn't stop us from killing that $50 gift certificate dead and enjoying a relatively quiet meal together. We got to sit and talk like normal adults while Cannon happily chewed on the drink menu. The meal was very tasty, the drinks were stiff, and the wait staff was pleasant.
After dinner, we picked up some desert and headed home for a late night of DVR catch-up. Ah, the quiet evening we needed.
I spent the rest of the weekend stuck behind my computer, knocking out heroic amounts of code for a contracting gig. That must have been why the weather decided to turn sunny... just to taunt me. Screw you, outdoor weather. Just wait until next weekend. Due to my absence in yardtime this year, and the rainy, then sunny, then rainy weather -- the weeds now outnumber the patches of grass out there. My only saving grace is that I am on a new schedule for weed-n-feed that is proving to do most of the prep work for me.
This weekend holds the Doors to Portland open for a rock-n-roll band by the name of NoMeansNo. Berbatti's Pan is the venue. Friday, May 6th. Doors open at 8:30pm. Kick ass. In the name of all things considered holy... I will you ALL there.
