Let Me Pour You A Beer
I signed up for my volunteer pourer shift at the 18th Annual Oregon Brewers Festival today. If you are going to be in the Portland area on July 28th - 31st this year, you should sign up too. Do it now. The shift to sign up for is the Friday shift from 4:30 - 9pm. Good times.
New this year is the expansion of the normal 3-day brewfest to a let's-get-'em-drunk-mid-week 4-day brewfest schedule. 4pm on Thursday is the new tap opening time. That means Friday tap time begins at Noon, giving all the drunkards an additional 4 hours worth of drinking time -- ensuring all the a-holes pouring for the 4:30 - 9pm crowd that much more entertainment value.
They are also allowing volunteers to pour for more than one shift now. But, screw that.

I think I'm skipping out of the volunteer festivities this year. Last year seemed like more work than fun, and the after party gets lamer with each passing year. This year, it will probably consist of dipping your finger into a plastic mug containing a solitary drop of beer, sucking it, then being told to leave by the jackbooted thugs of the OLCC.
I may be back in '06, but I need a little break from pouring (which I am going to exercise by drinkin').
