Best Dentist Ever
I just got back from the dentist down the hall. That's right; the dentist office I go to is in the same building in which I work. I had a cavity filled. Let me say this right now... best dental experience ever. It was even better than my cleanings I've had there. Seriously... everyone should go to this guy. I would go back and have another filling put in tomorrow if I needed to. It's more painful being at work.
I got there 15 minutes early and checked in at the front desk. I had just sat down and glanced over at the magazine rack, thinking I might have to try and find something interesting to read, when the hygienist came out and called me. Less than 2 minutes of waiting in the waiting room? Do they know what they're doing? This office is setting a pretty high standard. I'm going in to be serviced early. Will wonders never cease? So, the hygienist got me settled and numbed me up right away. The dentist came in right away and sat and shot the shit with me about his new iPod while we waited for the drug effect to fully kick in and I began slurring my words. Then they asked if I wanted to listen to music, and they brought out a pair of headphones for me. I had my iPaq on me, so I was like "hell yeah, I'll just plug in to my music". The other option was for them to tune in to an FM station for me. The doc said, "I'll let you know if I need to ask you something, and just let me know if you feel any pain at all". I like the sound of that, so I flip on my headphones and sit back listening to mp3s of Cake. In no time he was finished and I hadn't felt a thing. He even handed me a mirror halfway thru to show me the hole he drilled and what exactly was being filled. The whole process took about 40 minutes from start to finish.
So now I'm back at work. I can't eat my muffin and can only drink my coffee out of one side of my mouth until the anesthesia wears off in a couple hours. Awesome.
Weird -- I just read Tony's blog about his dentist experience and now I definitely think my dentist could kick his dentists’ ass. The blogging world is realizing it's dental work time and heading in droves to fill their teeth full of metal in celebration for the upcoming festive holiday season.
