My Precious

The "G1", aka the "Google Phone " or "The Dream" as it was referred to by code name was finally unveiled for the public last Tuesday, September 23rd.  This Android based phone, which runs on an HTC handset and is being carried by T-mobile, is the one I've been talking about and waiting on for years now.  That same day, the announcement was made that the phone would go retail on October 22nd.  A day later, my lovely wife PRE-ORDERED the phone for me.  She is the sweetest!  By the way, have I plugged her new store yet?  I was just there yesterday, and it's fantastic .

Anyway, I have noticed I'm talking about this phone to everybody.  Friends, co-workers, complete strangers on the sidewalk... "Hey!  See this phone?", as I hold up my current craptastic RAZR 3 or something.  "Yeah.  I only have 25 days left of using this piece of junk.  Why?  Because I am getting the Google Phone thedayitcomesoutandIcan'twaitOHMYGOD!!"  A sad uncomfortable half smile and nodding from my selected victim normally ensues.  "Um... cool."  Indeed.  Very cool.

I spent last evening reading the already-released user manual for the phone, and have begun to refer to it as "my precious".  It will be a long 25 days still to come.  Oh, and I'm getting the brown one .
