Two Rights Don't Make A Left
Watched the RNC last night, and the night before. I got sick to my stomach after only an hour. The mud slinging was almost too much to handle. You notice how none of the RNC speakers, Guiliani or Palin talked about policy? All they did was tell lies and make general slack-jawed remarks about their opponents? What's that all about? I hope the speech by McCain tonight speaks a little more toward the Republican's plan for the future of the country. Yes, we all know that John McCain is a war hero. He served his country with honor. But does that make him eligible for becoming President of the United States any more than me? I served our country in the military, and I served with honor. It should be noted McCain did so also, but it should in no way be the platform and/or reason for electing him as President. The attack tactics are not productive to solving all the problems with our country. Effective and intelligent solutions to difficult problems, both social and economic, is what I want to hear about. I have heard zero about such things from the Republicans so far.
Oh, right... the other "right". I was an inch away from getting right-hooked on the way in on my bike this morning. Happened at 28th & Glisan . For the car, the sun (bright & behind them) was a factor. I was riding right alongside them, and they might have had their blinker on at the time to turn, but again... if they did, I couldn't see it due to the bright sun reflecting off the car lights. Fortunately, they began turning ...real... ...slow..., and I was able to dart around them, just brushing the front bumper without any damage to myself or anything else. If they had cut a hard right, I would have been across their hood. Anyway, I lived, and wasn't mad at all, because really they would have been blinded by that sun behind them - even if they were looking. Biking to work every day is a healthy and sometimes dangerous endeavor. Basically, I just stay very alert, and keep my cool. Seems to work out alright.
Oh, and I checked out Chrome . I am using it as my main browser now. It is an amazing browser. All the functionality you would expect is available. Very intuitive usage. I love the extra features of being able to determine which sites/applications are using more memory *(very developer friendly). The Opera-like quick-launch feature is very nice. Built-in Google search browsing has been fantastic (saves me having to tab-over), and many, many other features I love. However, I see Google has a few things to work out still. Namely, they need to have the same kind of plug-ins/add-ons as Firefox. Some more in-browser applications crashing and some non auto-install plug-ins (like Java) are annoying too. It will still remain my core browser for now, and for the foreseeable future. Thanks, Google!

I was just saying the same thing today to someone. The part about how being a "war hero" has no bearing on whether or not McCain would be a good president. Like you, I also served our country (or was that county, I can never remember) so does that mean I should be running for president?
Also, nice job avoiding the car!
Take 'er easy.
