Wednesday Toilet Talk
It was raining solidly this morning, which meant my bike ride in was awesome. I got to work drenched and happy. I feel sorry for the poor suckers in their horseless carriages, listening to The Morning Zoo, how more soldiers were killed in this ridiculous war, or some such. I stink like a hog, and I don't really care. I B.O.-stick myself in the morning, and hope that does the job. No voiced complaints so far.
Several folks at work were sitting around near my desk, discussing our bathroom situation, so I ended up getting pulled in to the conversation when I heard it taking a nasty turn. We have 2 single-occupancy bathrooms at work. One for boys and one for girls. This is ample, since we have 14 employees (8F/6M), and everything has been hunky-dory until now. The complaint (by a female) was that the toilet seat in the men's bathroom is always up, and if the women's bathroom was occupied, they didn't feel it was right that they would have to put the seat down to use the men's bathroom.
Is this not a ridiculous request? I mean, what's the point in having a dedicated men's & women's bathroom if we can't treat them as such? My objective is to touch the toilet seat as little as possible. If we implemented this crazy rule, the guys would have to be touching that seat all day long. It's a courtesy to leave the seat up for the next guy who walks in there. If I were to use the women's bathroom, I would put the seat back down. No issue there. If we only had 1 unisex bathroom I would take the time to put the seat down as well. Also, is it really that difficult to wait another 5 minutes to go potty when the "seat-up" bathroom is taken? Anyway, I loudly protested the idea, and told the complainer to get bent. So concluded the mid-week workday toilet talk.
