No Spring In My Beer Step

Yes, thank you Tony for pointing out that the only thing I blogged about for a week I totally didn't follow through on. My happy happy trip to the Spring Brewfest last week was aborted when my daughter of almost 3 years was dropped by something called the Rotavirus. The CDC says I am not making that virus up. Mia woke up at 2:30am on Friday morning after having thrown EVERYTHING up she had eaten for the past week in her bed. We cleaned her up and just as we were getting her settled back in to bed, she puked again. This went on for the remainder of the night and in to the morning. She would vomit violently about every 15 to 20 minutes. Around 7am I declared the work day a bust and called in "kid sick". We called the pediatrician and got scheduled to go in at 11:15am. Until then, I decided to look up the symptoms on the Internets to try and figure out what the miracle cure could be. Rotavirus hit every mark and after deciding I would probably be in the hot seat for nursing our sick child back to health all day and possibly all weekend, I made the call in to Billy that I wouldn't be enjoying any spring beer with him.

The doctor verified the virus and Mia continued to puke every 20 minutes for the rest of the day. She didn't eat anything and we kept her eating Gatorade-type popsicles chock full of electrolytes. She was a trooper the whole day and would faithfully grasp both sides of the bowl every time she was violently sick over it. The rest of the time in between, she spent on the couch watching her favorite shows of Dora the Explorer and The Incredibles movie. By Saturday, Mia was mostly recovered and had stopped the continuous vomit fest.

So yeah, I'm blaming my absence at the Spring Brewfest on my kid.
