To The Coast!

I finished out my last day as a full-time employee on Friday and headed directly to the Low Brow for beers. Thankfully, I made my exit without incident. What I really didn't get was how so many people got sorta upset when I was leaving. Five o'clock rolled around and I quickly walked from one end of the office to the exit, saying and waving goodbye. I quickly got the impression that I was supposed to stop at each desk, say something like, "Hey man, keep on truckin'...", or somesuch. Hugs to the ladies and firm handshakes to the gentlemen and all that. Screw theat. They've known for the last several days I'm out of there on Friday, so those who felt it neccessary to say goodbye to me or wish me luck, they had plenty of time to do so. I'm not going to feel bad because they didn't get a chance to say goodbye in the last 5 minutes I'm around. Enough of that.

The weekend came busting in, bearing massive amounts of sunshine. My lovely wife, realizing none of us have to be at work on Monday, suggested we take a short vacation out to the Oregon Coast. We left on Sunday morning and drove towards the coast, passing thru Tillamook. We stopped at the Tillamook cheese factory to show Mia where cheese is made and got our cheese sampling happening.

After that, we drove on to Cannon Beach and grabbed a room on the beach. We played on the sand and surf until it got dark, and then spent some time in the hotel pool. Later, we picked up snacks and fell asleep watching Peter Pan in our hotel room.

Monday was spent with some more time in the pool and more playing on the beach. We left for home in the evening, and spent an enjoyable drive back to the 'Couve while the girls napped.

Tuesday was another fairly relaxing day at home and Mt. Saint Helens blew some more ash off around 5:30. We had a great view of her from our place. We're back on volcano watch.

Today, I started full-time contracting down in the Pearl. It's another 70 degree weather day in Portland. Is it seriously still only March? Damn!
