Back On Auto-Commute

We loaded up my pickup with a crap-ton old toss-away wood and garbage from the garage this weekend. We're on the final legs of finishing up the garage studio project and some things just had to go. Since we finished up late on Saturday, we planned to take the truck-load of junk to the dump on Sunday. I found out Sunday morning, while sipping a cup of coffee, that the dump is closed on Sunday. Suckage. My Monday morning commute plans had to change since I really didn't want to haul a huge load of crap in the back of the pickup down to Portland and back. Back to the bus.

I woke up at 4:45am this morning, thanks to Cannon crying about a dozen new teeth poking thru her gums. This worked out fine since I had the alarm set for 5am anyway. I popped out of bed, dressed and grabbed a book I've been putting off reading for months. I drove to the park-and-ride of the "Jeep got stolen" fame, and caught the 5:20am express to downtown Portland.

Settling in with a book for a solid 30 minutes and not thinking about traffic once was heaven. I miss the bus commute desperately. Of course, it always hurts sticking 3 semi-crisp dollar bills in the box every time I get on this particular bus line, but by the time I arrive at my destination I know the money was well spent.
