Tempin' The B-Hood : Day 3
I fired up a breakfast feast for everyone this morning with pancakes, hashbrowns, waffles, toast, OJ, and all that good stuff. After scarfing that down, we decided to try and finish the work we had started on the linen closet.
With the box completed, we hauled it upstairs and inserted it in to the wall. Doors were fitted and I began taping and mudding the seams. My folks were needing to get out of town before it got too late in the afternoon, so we cleaned up and said goodbye to Nana & Papa.
Having them here was really nice, but I know I would have survived just fine without them. A great deal of time is spent taking care of your guests who are there to help. The greater difference is in favor of time they spare you by helping take care of the kids, but there is still that offset amount of energy lost. Fortunately, my folks are very, very low maintenance. I know I wouldn't have gotten nearly as much done around the house if they weren't here either.
Back to being just me with the girls, we began planning our evening together. Miraculously, I got them both to lay down and take a nap. After that, Mia informed me we were in desperate need for some Cheetos, so we took a walk to the local Quickie Mart for some snacks. We played a few rounds of Chutes & Ladders before it was time to head for bed. Tonight was especially hard to get Mia to sleep because she wanted to just stay up with me and hang out. I think the extended time with Violet being away is really starting to take it's toll on her.
Violet is talking about coming home a day early, which would put her back here tomorrow night. We'll see how that pans out. In a way I really hope she stays the full time because I'm having a great time proving to myself I can handle this alone, despite really missing Violet. I feel I haven't really gotten to do that yet since my folks have been here for the majority of the time. Plus, I really want to just finish one damn project before Vi gets home.
