Bill Came Over For Thanksgiving

My good friend Bill came over to bless my house for Thanksgiving this year. I don't get to see this guy much any more because of something called LAW SCHOOL and something else called SALEM. Anyway, it was good to see him and he got to sample some tasty Dry-Hopped Cockblocker ESB, which I had on tap in celebration for the festive holiday. Bill brewed it too, so he thought it tasted great. Seriously, if you're not sure a brew is going to come out tasting all that great, "lose" your ability to tap it and let it sit in your cooler-like garage for 6 - 8 weeks. That flavor will settle right up.

In all, there were 18 people over at the house this year, although it felt like 180. Somehow, we only ended up with a 20 pound turkey to feed all of these people. I started the turkey process at 6am and had the thing in the oven by 7am. In years past, this kind of roast would take 6+ hours. Roasting it in our brand-spanking new fancy convection oven, the turkey was completely finished in only 4 hours.

I ate way too much and then proceeded to drink way too much. Trivial Pursuit (90's Edition) was played and Bill's team dominated. I happened to be on Bill's team, but didn't really contribute much. I can roll a mean six-sided die though.

Friday, my dad and I went out and chopped down some trees. In the evening, we took the kids out to the tree lighting in downtown Vancouver. Mia got all excited to see Santa, and we're realizing this is the first year that she's going to "get" the whole Christmas thing. Saturday, we went out to the mall to see how the holiday shoppers were faring. Poor bastards. Sunday consisted of watching some football and trying not to do too much. Our leftovers were basically depleted by the end of the weekend, so I believe another turkey roast is in order.
